What is a pest?
A pest is any organism that has a harmful effect on humans, their food or living conditions. Pests may transmit disease or may be just a nuisance by damaging buildings, damaging stored foods, damaging clothing or biting people. Ants and pantry pests (moths and beetles) are common household pests that may occasionally cause a nuisance in agricultural and commercial settings. In addition, springtails, silverfish, and firebrats may be a nuisance to homeowners.
