Aerial Mosquito Control Treatment in Non-residential Marsh Area to Reduce Nuisance Mosquito Populations on 3/20/25

We have scheduled a mosquito control treatment using a helicopter to control mosquito larvae growing in the Palo Alto flood basin. The treatment in this non-residential area is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025. This helicopter mosquito control treatment will help stop the winter salt marsh mosquitoes (Aedes squamiger) from growing into flying adults. These mosquitoes can fly up to 20 miles and are known to be aggressive biters, biting people multiple times. The treatment will help reduce their numbers and keep them from flying off to nearby areas.

Treatment Details:

  • The treatment will start around 7:30am and will last a few hours.
  • Signs will be posted in the area a few days before the treatment.
  • Trails will be closed during the treatment.
  • There is no risk to people on open trails - once the treatment is done, all areas will open again.

For more information on the scheduled control treatment, please view our press release. To learn more about our mosquito control efforts, please visit our mosquito larval control page.
